It says that people are welcomed into the kingdom by Jesus because of what they have done for the “least of these.” When we serve the least, the last, and the lost, we are serving Jesus. Serving with the poor matters, especially for a church with such vast resources. This week, we will focus on the priority of offering acts of mercy and serving our community. Dr. Peter MoonScripture: Matthew 25:24-30The Parable of the Five Talents is about stewardship on two levels. One is personal. God has given us financial resources. We are to invest in the kingdom now and not bury them in the sand for fear of loss or punishment. This encourages us to give our resources generously so that Reveille can do the work of the kingdom aggressively. The parable also speaks to Reveille Church itself. Reveille has been given enormous resources, often because of the sacrifice of so many people. We are a five-talent church. We therefore must make sure that we are investing those resources well and aggressively to serve the kingdom of God through our community.

Stephen ColemanScripture: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18The book of 2 Timothy is known to be Paul’s “Farewell Address,” a time when he looks back on his life. The scripture that we read has one of Paul’s most famous lines, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We often read these words at funerals. For the sermon, we are going to focus on Paul’s life – the fight that he fought, the race that he ran. As we see how Paul endured his race and kept the faith, we will hopefully gain some help for us on our race of life.

We don’t just welcome people who show up, we invite people to join us. This week looks at two great Biblical reminders of the importance of invitation, the passion of God for his banquet hall and churches to be filled, and that in the end, we are to go out, extending the hospitality to our communities and world.

The Belmont Food Pantry on the Southside of Richmond had its largest ever distribution on Friday, October 24, with over 830 families needing support. The pending disruptions to SNAP and EBT benefits will impact more families. Belmont will be offering extended hours, 12:00-4:00 pm, this Friday, October 31. The Belmont Food Pantry is looking for additional volunteers to serve during this time.
