Richmond Friends of the Homeless is a private, non-profit association devoted to making a difference in the lives of the less advantaged. It began over 20 years ago with one woman, Shawnee Hansen, serving lunch in south Richmond from the trunk of her car. Today, this organization serves over 1,500 meals each week at two locations; one south of Richmond and one downtown. In addition, food baskets and donated clothes, blankets and other necessities are distributed to those in need.
