Disciple Bible Study
United Methodism is based on four fundamental elements: scripture, tradition, reason, and experience.  John Wesley stressed that scripture is the foremost of the four.  He wrote, "We rely on the way of salvation given in the Bible.  We use the Bible as a touchstone in examining real or supposed revelation.  We take it on the final authority in matters of faith and practice.  Thus we need to study and interpret it carefully."

For more than 20 years, many members at Reveille have grown in their knowledge of scripture through the Disciple Bible Study program.  Disciple revolves around daily reading of scripture and weekly meetings of the group.  These groups are kept small so that discussion and group interaction may be encouraged.  Each individual, using his or her own Bible, is guided through daily readings by a study manual.  The leaders, who have been trained specifically for the Disciple program, facilitate the classes in the study.

Disciple courses offered:
  • Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study:  This program journeys through the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelation, in 34 weeks.  Disciple I is a prerequisite for all other Disciple programs.
  • Disciple II: Into the Word, Into the World: This version is a 32-week study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts.
  • Disciple III: Remember Who You Are: The study encompasses a 32-week study of the Prophets and the writings of Paul.
  • Disciple IV: Under the Tree of Life: This program is a 32-week study of the Writings in the Old Testament and the Johannine literature (John; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John; James; Jude; and Revelation) of the New Testament.
  • Jesus in the Gospels: This is the first program in the second generation of the Disciple Bible series.  The study explores the different views of Jesus as revealed by each gospel.
Short-Term Disciple Bible Study
These Bible studies are modeled after the popular Disciple Bible Study.  They are designed for those who want to study the Bible but are unable to make the long-term commitment required for the traditional courses.  Currently four different introductory units to the Bible are available.  They include Old Testament, New Testament, Genesis and Romans.  Varying in length from eight to ten weeks, these short-term classes are offered throughout the year, often on Sunday mornings and weeknights.
