Reveille's Outreach Ministry
Reveille's Outreach Ministry seeks to connect Reveille members in service to the community and the world through opportunities such as the following:

Friends of the Homeless
On the fourth Thursday of each month, Reveille serves the homeless a midday meal at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on North First Street. Individuals or groups may assist by preparing casseroles, serving, or giving financial support. Reveille also prepares bag lunches on the fourth Sunday of each month.

CARITAS
Reveille participates annually in this program, which houses the homeless in area churches. For two weeks each year, homeless families are our guests, as the church provides meals, sleeping areas, showers, laundry facilities, and other comforts of home. During these weeks, many volunteers are needed as cooks, evening or overnight workers, and people to do arts and crafts with children.

Prison Ministry
Volunteers work in pairs to mentor women at Richmond and Chesterfield Detention Centers.

Food Pantry
On the first Sunday of each month, Reveille collects canned and dried goods to support the Ginter Park United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Tutoring/Mentoring
The tutoring/mentoring program pairs individual Reveille members with students at Swansboro Elementary School. The goal of this ministry is to help individual members touch the lives of at-risk children. The ministry commitment is one hour per week during the school year.

Home Repair and Construction in Richmond
Reveille periodically participates in home construction through Rebuilding Together of Richmond. Individuals or groups volunteer to spend a day working to rehabilitate a home.

Adopt-a-Cottage Program
The Adopt-a-Cottage ministry matches a group of Reveille members with residents in the Residential Treatment Program at United Methodist Family Services. These teenage boys and girls come from a variety of difficult family or foster-care situations and live at UMFS to get their lives back on track. Reveille's ministry team plans activities to do with them once every four to six weeks, usually on weekends. The ministry commitment is for one year, September through August, for about two hours a month.

Mission Trips
Every two years, the youth mission-choir trip travels nationally to provide help in needy areas. (Click for information on youth mission-choir trip.) Reveille also has sent volunteer mission teams or individuals to Honduras, Jamaica, Central America, Russia, and Barcelona, Spain. These trips are coordinated through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) or Friends of Barnabas.

Financial Support
Reveille provides financial support to various agencies throughout the year. The primary opportunity for providing this support is through seasonal special giving during Advent and Lent. In addition, communion offerings each month go to help those in the community in need of assistance with their living expenses due to a life crisis.

UMUMR
UMUMR is a Richmond District ministry focusing on housing, education, job skills, and food programs to restore faith and hope in troubled communities in Richmond. The Swansboro Elementary School mentoring program and the Food Pantry are part of this ministry.
